I wish someone would explain to me why we let corporations make money from our public airwaves and require nothing of them in return.

The Fairness Doctrine would force the networks to hear from RID-USA on many topics the media doesn't want to address, mainly the information about the high risk of death due to alcohol overdose. Alcohol ads are a rich source of revenue for the networks.

The fairness Doctrine is an attempt to shut down talk radio. The reason is that stations would have to air alternatives to the current crop of talk radio hosts, but experience haas shown that the alternate programming draws few listeners and consequently few advertisers. Broadcasters would then will be forced to discontinue talk radio as we know it. This strategy is no secret since Democrat leaders have stated it as a policy.
